Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about Hands IPL.

Hands IPL uses broad-spectrum light pulses absorbed by pigmented cells and vascular lesions. The energy breaks down melanin and unwanted blood vessels, allowing the body to naturally clear damaged tissue, reducing age spots and improving skin tone over several sessions.

Most clients require 2–5 sessions spaced four to six weeks apart, depending on spot severity and skin type. Results are gradual; darker, deeper pigmentation may need additional treatments for optimal improvement and long-term maintenance.

Most clients feel mild snapping sensations and slight warmth; topical numbing can be used for comfort. Treatments are quick with minimal downtime — temporary redness or swelling may occur but usually subsides within a few days.

Side effects are generally mild, including short-term redness, swelling, or darkening of spots before fading. Rarely blistering or pigment changes can occur, especially without proper pre- and post-treatment sun protection; our clinicians minimize risks with tailored settings.

Ideal candidates have sun-damaged hands with age spots, freckles, or uneven pigmentation and fair to medium skin tones. A consultation assesses skin type, medical history, and expectations to determine safety and customize the treatment plan.

Avoid tanning and sun exposure for at least four weeks before treatment and stop certain topical agents as instructed. Aftercare includes sunscreen, gentle cleansing, and moisturizing; avoid exfoliation and heat for several days. Follow clinic guidance for best healing and results.
