Most clients see meaningful improvement after 3–6 treatments spaced four to six weeks apart. Exact number depends on pigmentation severity, skin type and individual response. Maintenance once or twice yearly helps preserve results.

IPL can be safe for many skin types, but higher Fitzpatrick tones have increased risk of pigment changes. Our clinicians perform a consultation and patch test, then tailor settings or suggest alternatives to maximize safety.

Your provider will cleanse the area, mark targets and fit protective eyewear. You’ll feel short pulses like rubber-band snaps with cooling between passes; treatment lasts about 20–45 minutes for arms. Topical numbing is available if desired.

Most side effects are mild and temporary: redness, swelling, slight darkening of pigmented spots that flake, and occasional crusting. Symptoms generally resolve within a few days to two weeks. Serious complications are rare with trained providers.

Avoid sun exposure, tanning and strong topical retinoids for two weeks before treatment. Do not wax or bleach the area; shaving is allowed. Follow pre-treatment instructions given at consultation and disclose medications or recent procedures.

Initial pigment lightening often appears within one to three weeks as spots darken then fade. Optimal improvement accumulates over the full series of treatments; results last longer with diligent sun protection and periodic maintenance sessions.
